Regional Panels of the Royal Academy of Dance operate
under by-laws established by the Academy. Those by-laws require that (1) one-third
of the membership retire after three years of membership to allow for new members
to join, and (2) the officers step down each year to insure free and fair elections. In
accordance with these by-laws, no panel members are eligible for retirement
this year. Panel officers will be stepping down again this year and may be nominated for re-election
to their positions by the members.
Nominations for new members are welcomed. Full membership on the Panel requires
active membership in the Academy. Friends of the Panel are also welcome to join
in a non-voting capacity. Elections of officers will be held at the Annual General
Meeting. Nominations for the Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary positions must
be submitted in writing at least 28 days prior to the meeting and must be signed
by the nominator and another Panel member as a second. Present officers are
eligible for re-election. Nominations must be received by October 1st, 2008, and
will be taken from the floor at the meeting providing that the nominee has agreed to be included on the ballot.
